ROK Government gave T. Ariga, my uncle, 'East Tower Industry Prize'for his contribution to POSCO. -8 　韓国政府が有賀敏彦(私の叔父)のポスコ協力に対して東塔産業勲章を授与(8)。

When he had successfully completed the Japanese Project of assisting Korean POSCO-I, T. Ariga got free from the responsibility of the leader thereof together with all the Japanese ca. 40 members.　After returning to Japan, he was often privately invited by POSCO friends. He was highly welcomed every time when he visited South Korea.
有賀俊彦は、ポスコ一期工事が完成した時点で役目を成功裏に終えてプロジェクトリーダーの任を解かれました。同行していた約40名の日本側の技術者も同様でした。その後、ポスコに招待されて韓国をたびたび訪問し、その度に大歓迎されていたと聞きました。

However, when No-Muhyon became South Korean President, the friendly atmosphere was completely changed. Many Koreans claimed that POSCO had been completed only by Koreans --- no Japanese had been involved. Therefore, T. Ariga was isolated form the friends of POSCO. He was very sad when he died at the age of 89 in 2007. I am also very sad with the fact that he died before he knew he was given the East Tower Industry Prize of ROK.
しかし盧泰愚大統領の時期に風向きが一変しました。ポスコは、韓国人だけの手で完成したということになり、日本から技術導入したという話は封印されました。ですから、親しかったポスコ幹部との交流は途絶えました。有賀敏彦はそのことを悲しみながら寂しく死の床につきました。2007年9月1日、享年89歳でした。今回の朴明博による東塔産業勲章の受章まで生きていなかったことを、私は残念に思い、悲しんでいます。
