Japan has brushed up the technology of manufacturing iron & steel which Japan learnt from the people of Korea Peninsula for the sake of making Japanese sharp and beautiful swards. Further more, after Meiji Restoration, we developed a good process for manufacturing large amount of high quality iron & steel, which we needed to build battle ship, cruisers, destroyers, submarines, aircraft carriers in order to compete with U.S.A, and U.K. and so forth. I am very happy that we could have assisted Koreans with the historical technology.

日本は朝鮮半島から習った製鉄技術を、日本刀の製造のために製鉄技術を進化させました。さらに明治時代になって日本は欧米列強に対抗する必要性から富国強兵の道を歩みました。そのため米英に対抗できる大艦隊を必要としました。その過程で戦艦大和など戦艦、巡洋艦、駆逐艦、潜水艦、航空母艦の建造に大量の良質鉄鋼を必要としました。このニーズに呼応する過程で製鉄技術水準を向上させました。この高水準技術を韓国などの発展途上の国に提供できたことは、日本にとって大きな喜びです。これが私の感想です。
